I am excited about effective communication of science both to the peer academic community and the ‘public’.Most of my extra-curricular activities have focused on communicating science and helping other communicate more effectively.

Consultant, Center for Oral, Written and Visual Communication, Rice University (2014- present)

• Mentored undergraduate and graduate students across disciplines in effective oral (research/course presentations) and written (journal articles, essays) communication

Contributor, The Conversation (2014-present)

• Wrote ‘science news’ format articles for the public, based on recent research studies

Blog Team Member, Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (2014)

• Interviewed the Laureates Profs. Walter Gilbert, Martin Evans, and Oliver Smithies

Organizer, Scientific Communication Course for PhD students, IIT Kanpur (2011, 12) 

• Initiated a course on manuscript preparation and seminar delivery by Dr. Geoff Hyde 

Co-founder and Chief Editor, NERD (Campus Science Magazine), IIT Kanpur (2008-10)

• Formed the Core Team of students and led them in fruitful science journalism
• Secured funding from Dean, R & D; Managed the content, design and layout for 8 issues
